Hi,
Thank you for reaching out to us at AdSense Support! I hope your week has been great so far.
Please be advised that we don't have your local language support for now so, I hope you are alright for me to handle this case in English.
After a thorough investigation into your reporting, we have found that your site (misite.com) has generated an incredibly high amount of invalid click activity since April 11, 2023. As a result of our invalid activity detection systems filtering out all the invalid clicks, this is why your performance metrics as well as your earnings were dropping significantly.
I am sorry to hear that your AdSense account has been impacted by invalid traffic. In the following I'll explain to you about invalid traffic and how you can reduce this one in the future.
About Invalid Traffic
In general, invalid activity can be caused by either "bad traffic" sources or by accidental clicks by users (which are normally due to ad implementation issues). The revenue generated from invalid activity is deducted at the end of the month and returned back to the respective advertisers.
Invalid activity includes, but is not limited to:
- Clicks or impressions generated by publishers clicking their own live ads
- Repeated ad clicks or impressions generated by one or more users
- Publishers encourage clicks on their ads (examples may include: any language encouraging users to click on ads, ad implementations that may cause a high volume of accidental clicks, etc.)
- Automated clicking tools or traffic sources, robots, or other deceptive
- Accidental Clicks of ad units due to web design issues.
Unfortunately, we can't share specific details about the sources of invalid activity in order to protect the integrity of our invalid activity detection systems. However, I would like to provide you with the following all information we are able to provide you and the suggestions on how you can reduce invalid activity in the future.
Verify the ad units implementation in your apps with an unusual high CTR
In terms of ad units, the ad units that have generated the highest percentage of invalid activity are the following:
- banner - 5
- banner - 4
- banner - 1
In order to reduce the percentage of invalid activity, we'd recommend ensuring that these and other ad units with high CTR are implemented properly, by checking the following points:
- Increase the space (in pixels) between ad units and content. Move ads away from site content by adding 15-20 px padding to these units.
- Identify your AdSense ads clearly with labels.
- Place the navigation buttons (for example, the one that directs users to the next page) above the ad unit, not below and move ad units away from navigational buttons, such as next buttons, or clickable content on mobile websites
- Review the implementation of your ads on all devices to ensure that these ones are placed according to the AdSense ad placement policies.
- Review the mobile page speed on your site. Poor mobile speed can cause ads to delay in loading and appear unexpectedly to users as they scroll through mobile sites, leading to invalid clicks.
Verify your Traffic Sources
Additionally, we advise reviewing your traffic sources to reduce invalid activity generated from these ones. To do this, we recommend the following:
- Segment your traffic. It really is the best way of deciphering where this invalid activity is being generated, and it has worked for publishers who were previously unaware/had not made changes to their traffic sources.
- If you purchase traffic from an external party, please query them on what may have changed on their end in recent times
- We understand that a third party may generate invalid traffic on your ads without your knowledge or permission. If you believe that other publishers can sabotage your website, you can report situations where sabotage has occurred.
We have some useful information on our
Ad Traffic Quality resource center which may give you a better understanding of click fraud and invalid traffic.
I hope the information above helps. Have a great day ahead.
